Full Description
Ghyll Cottage and Little Ghyll are a lovely non-smoking, dog-friendly
18th century holiday cottage and annex in the honeypot Yorkshire Dales
village of Kettlewell.
Recently refurbished by the new owners, Ghyll
Cottage and Little Ghyll sleep up to 8 in a spacious, well-appointed 3
bedroomed cottage (6 guests) and annex (2 guests) alongside the
picture postcard Kettlewell Beck.
Whatever your preference - from walking to cycling, riding to climbing,
caving to fishing, to doing precisely nothing nursing a decent pint in
one of the three pubs just four minutes' walk away - you'll find it here,
and a warm welcome to match. With nothing but Mother Nature to disturb
your peace, yet everything on your doorstep, your holiday can be as
relaxed or as active as you choose.
Originally two cottages, believed to be occupied by cotton weavers or
lead miners, both prevalent industries at the time, Ghyll Cottage was
converted into one spacious, well-proportioned home in the mid-1900s.
The room sizes - at 21ft, the sitting room is unusually large for a
cottage - are matched by the kind of characterful features typical for
a period property, with exposed (occasionally low - 6 footers take
care!) beams, irregular walls and hints of a life and time gone by.
To the front you'll find a bench perfectly located to simply watch the
world, its walkers and its sheep go by; to the rear is an enclosed
south-facing terrace with side views to the fell, garden dining
furniture to seat 8 and a barbecue.
